» Orientation: Bisexual, though with more of a preference for males. In the beginning of the series, Eiri seems to have an aversion to Shuichi hanging around him and all the attempts at working his way under his skin lose him points. Eiri makes the case that he's only interested in women, even making several references to still dating them on the side. This leads Shuichi to believe that he hates him for the very fact of being a male, but Eiri counters that if that were the case, he wouldn't have taken the boy to bed. As the series progresses, Eiri seems to be exclusively involved with Shuichi, barring his attraction to his former sensei. At the end of the series, the two are still a couple.

However, should Eiri be presented with an exceptionally good-looking woman, he may very well pursue her for a quick lay.

» Personality: Yuki Eiri ['snow' in Japanese] lives up to his pen name with his chilling, ice-cold personality; he's got a mysterious past, and just doesn't seem to give a shit about most things, usually brushing them off as casually as can be. He was born Uesugi Eiri into a religious family, his father being the head of a shrine. He has an older sister named Mika, who is married to the former keyboardist of Nittle Grasper and President of N-G Music -- one of the most prominent record labels out there – Tohma Seguchi. Eiri is the middle child, with the youngest being Tatshua, a sixteen year old monk-in-training. The newest addition to his circle includes a certain pink-haired lead singer of the band Bad Luck, Shindou Shuichi. The little punk worked his way into the novelist's life and had since made a comfortable space for himself as Eiri's boyfriend. Their relationship has caused much scandal, most of which was used to boost sales for Bad Luck, and consequently Yuki Eiri's novels. He was formerly engaged to Usami Ayaka, a marriage arranged by his father.

Eiri's chosen profession is writing romance novels, something completely opposite of the type of man he is. As mentioned, he has a cold façade which is practically impermeable and is rather rough around the edges, yet refined when need be. His fame precedes him, and that isn't necessarily the fame of his books – Yuki Eiri is quite the ladies' man. Cigarettes and beer is a must for him. He has fast cars, a generous-sized loft, a charismatic personality and a killer smile, all of which add up to the stereotypical 'bad boy' image which he perfected.

There is a reason, however, for all of this. Being of Japanese descent, yet having naturally blonde hair and an unusual eye color, Eiri was often teased and bullied as a child. Tohma Seguchi, whom he knew way back in the day, saw this bullying and how much it traumatized the young Eiri. Wanting to do nothing but ease his pain, Seguchi whisked sixteen-year old Eiri away to New York City and began a life there. An English tutor was found for him to helphim adjust; a man named Kitazawa Yuki. Kitazawa soon became more to Eiri than just a tutor. Eiri looked up to Kitazawa Yuki and was inspired to become a writer and held the elder in high regards.

Then everything changed.

One night, while the two of them were alone doing some studies, a group of thugs showed up at the door, invited over by Kitazawa himself, to have their way with the young Eiri. This was the ultimate betrayal on Kitazawa's part, made worse only by pawning the boy off for a mere ten dollars. Eiri fought, however, and in the end, he grabbed hold of one of the thugs' guns and shot them and Kitazawa. Seguchi found him some time shortly after the incident and felt himself partly responsible for allowing such a thing to happen to Eiri. From that day on, he has been looking out for Eiri's best interests and lets nothing get in the way of it – not even a potential love interest.

Due to the incident back in New York, Eiri has developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The memory haunts him even today. Sadly, Eiri can't find it in himself to let go of his feelings for his former mentor.

Appearance: Eiri is a tall [6'1"], blonde man with golden eyes (in the anime; manga lists him as having blue eyes), and stunning good looks; his eyes are often complimented for their ability to captivate, looking so dangerous. His hair is kept a messy sort of short, though when it starts to grow out, it becomes a bit wavy. He is also often seen wearing thin wire-framed glasses when reading or working on his laptop. He does have some jewelry -- a large gold band worn on the middle finger of his left hand [though sometimes it switches], and single gold hoop in his left ear.
